Janie Barrera

Janie Barrera is the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of LiftFund, a nonprofit small business champion. Established in 1994 in San Antonio, Texas, LiftFund provides funding, resources and guidance to help entrepreneurs launch, grow and scale their businesses. Janie’s leadership and vision for a leveled financial playing field, has led LiftFund to provide over $408 million in micro and small business loans across its 15-state footprint.

Janie is a nationally recognized change-agent in the field of microfinance, and firm believer that entrepreneurship is a viable tool to break the cycle of poverty. She has dedicated her career to helping and empowering individuals to build assets, create jobs and wealth, and leave a legacy for future generations.

Janie is a Corpus Christi native and comes from a family of generational entrepreneurs, having grown up working alongside her parents in their cafe. A longtime neighborhood resident, Janie enjoys bike rides around the community and scenic walks to the many great shops and restaurants in the area, as well as working in her garden and taking care of her chickens.
