Peter is a photographer and an officer of the San Antonio Art League and Museum
Peter Szarmach is a photographer and graphic artist. He is also an active member with the San Antonio Art League and Museum, where he acts as a docent and chairs the organization’s 92nd annual juried exhibition.
Peter says he got his start in photography when he won a raffle prize of a Kodak Instamatic camera at a plumbing show (his dad and uncle owned the local hardware store) and took it on a class trip to Mexico.
Later, he studied photography at the University of Illinois at Chicago while working for his degree in graphic design. As a graphic designer, Peter says he often incorporated photography into his designs, keeping his own darkroom to enable him to better manipulate images for integration into those designs.
Today, Peter says, he has a passion for capturing the 'vastness and the details of nature'.
'Most of my travels take me to locations where hiking is one of the main features,' he says. 'Composing landscapes and natural abstracts excite me.'
Peter’s images have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, and he has self-published two books, ‘Sacred Places’ and ‘Natural Abstracts.’
